Legos cost on average about $0.10 a piece, so even with a million pieces it should still be pretty cheap (though I suspect pieces used here skew towards the expensive side). Probably only a few hundred thousand. The 10,000+ hours required to build it will represent a significant time commitment though.
Regardless, what I really want to see is a crash test video...
